TEA District Rating B (89) Niche Texas Rank #24 Hays County Rank #1 Graduation Rate 97–98% ## The TEA A-rating, in plain English The Texas Education Agency rates every district on student achievement, school progress, and closing the gaps between student groups. DSISD posts a B (89/100), improved +3 points year-over-year, and every individual campus has scored at least 87. Five of eight rated campuses — Rooster Springs, Sycamore Springs Elem, Cypress Springs, Walnut Springs, and Sycamore Springs Middle — earned TEA A. ## Dripping Springs HS — top-tier college readiness DSHS holds Niche A+, serves roughly 2,500 students, offers 23 Advanced Placement courses, and graduates 97-98% on time with ~93% attending college. UIL 6A Division 2 with six state team championships (volleyball 1994 / 2015 / 2022, girls basketball 1994, girls swimming 2018, girls soccer 2021). The football program reached the 2025 state quarterfinals at the Alamodome. In 2024, more than 170 students earned a school-record 204 industry-based CTE certifications. ## DSISD vs. Eanes vs. Lake Travis — the value calculus DSISD scores TEA 89, one point below Lake Travis (90) and five below Eanes (94). At a ~$575K median, DSISD is roughly $150K less than Lake Travis ($725K median) and $1.3M less than Eanes ($1.9M median) — about 2.3x the school quality per dollar versus Eanes. Compared to Hays CISD ($375K median, TEA 80), DSISD carries a 62% price premium backed by a 9-point TEA gap and a 25-point STAAR reading advantage. ## The capacity story — $402.3M bond, Wildwood Springs, and Driftwood Springs HS DSISD has grown 61% in a decade (5,600 students in 2015 to ~8,800 today) and is projected to reach 13,000-15,000 at full buildout. Voters approved a $402.3M bond on May 3, 2025 with ~70% support. Proposition A ($399.7M) funds Driftwood Springs HS — a $298.8M, 506,000 sq ft, 2,500-student campus on Darden Hill Road opening 2028-29 — plus $51.1M in DSHS renovations. Wildwood Springs Elementary opened on-site at Headwaters in August 2025 with 850-student capacity.
